Salland Engineering has developed the SEFaST as a full-featured replacement of the Sentry FST-2 processor based test system. The FST-2 is the heart of many Sentry systems, like the Sentry V, VII, VIII, S10, S20, S21 and Sentinel.


The SEFaST can fully replace the FST-2 processor, emulate tester memory up to 256K words, replace or add hard disk functionality as known to the original Sentry systems. Load, develop and debug jobs using your local and/or network drives, and the extended utilities provided with SEFaST. Running on a PC with dual Pentium II processors at 266 MHz or more, the processor is about 8 times faster than the original FST-2, thus offering significant test time reduction and higher throughput (up to 60%).

This special replacement of the FST-2 has been designed in a way to get the advantages of a modern operating system environment to your test floor.The old terminal / text based Sentry environment is replaced by the graphical Windows NT 4.0 environment. The tester will be networked by means of standard (off the shelf) software and hardware. Adding a wide range of connectivity to virtually any fileserver, printer etc. in your network, also remote control / monitoring via another workstation in the network is possible.

Maintenance benefits

Salland Engineering's SEFaST makes it possible to decrease test time up to 60 percent. By using the new and advanced PC technology, the SEFaST can significantly improve program instruction time. This will translat into an improvement in throughput without editing a single line of code. With up-to-date interfacing and storage technology, loading time has been drastically reduced. Additional software tools give you the possibility to display real time yield, binning and other information. Due to the increased tester throughput you will also use your handlers/waferprobers more efficiently.

The SEFaST unit is designed with standard PC hardware which replaces the FST-2 computer of the Sentry and Sentinel test systems, mag tape drive and the bulky hard disk. The use of less tester hardware results in easy trouble shooting lower downtime and lower maintenance cost.

The SEFaST offers a test program development environment with a full-featured windows interface. The powerful edit functions, like color syntax highlighting, will improve engineering and design activities.
