SE-MCT
Salland Engineering (Europe) BV has developed SE-MCT, a full-featured replacement of the MCT 2000 controller. Replacing the old MCT controller by a new standard Intel Pentium PC results in optimization of your test operations. Installing SE-MCT will decrease hardware maintenance cost that is needed for your old MCT test system and a reduction of test time by at least 10% and calibration time by 50% can be achieved. Furthermore, Windows NT network connectivity is added to the MCT system, allowing a faster program load and a reduced compile time from 15 minutes to approximately 30 seconds.
Introduction
Upgrading your MCT 2000 test system with SE-MCT is an easy way to give a new life to your old equipment. By installing the SE-MCT package, you will not only reduce program load time, calibration time and test time, but you can also stop worrying about hardware maintenance costs of old, obsolete MCT hardware. This replacement of the MCT controller has been designed to get the advantages of a modern Operating System on your test floor. The MCT 2000 can be connected to your network via a Windows NT interface, allowing remote access to your MCT system in a multitasking environment. The graphical Windows NT environment replaces the old text based terminal. The tester will be networked by means of standard (off the shelf) software and hardware. Adding a wide range of connectivity to virtually any fileserver, printer etc. in your network is possible, as well as remote control and monitoring via another workstation in the network.
The SE-MCT can fully replace the MCT CP/M 86 controller, emulate tester memory up to 512 Kbytes and run your compiled test programs without modifications. The replacement supports up to 56 pages of FRAM. Based on a PC workstation with a 450+MHz Pentium III processor, the SE-MCT is more than 18% times faster than the original controller, so offering test time reduction and higher throughput.
HARDWARE Description
The SE-MCT replaces all obsolete hardware components of the MCT 2000, 2010 and 2020 test systems. The old MCT controller, including 8" floppy drives, monitor and CPU board, are being replaced by a completely new package enabling a fast and efficient interface between the old MCT system and a new Intel Pentium processor. The SE-MCT set replaces the complete MCT controller box that holds the CP/M 86 computer, character terminal, floppy drives and the power control module with front panel buttons. The testhead is connected to the PC workstation via the power control box. A front panel box/switch replaces the front panel buttons of the old MCT system. A dedicated PCI card, including an optional GPIB- interface for your prober or handler, replaces the old MCT interface hardware, providing a fast link between the MCT test system and the stand-alone PC.
Additional FRAM adds extra memory to your system to store the necessary functional patterns. SE-MCT can emulate FRAM for fast load of functional patterns. Calibration time and test time reduction can thus be achieved by loading these patterns into the system from FRAM, harddisk or 3.5" floppy in stead of loading the data from a slower 8" floppy drive or MNET.
SOFTWARE Description
The SE-MCT runs the original MCT software using a CP/M 86 emulator that runs in a Windows NT 16 Bits DOS environment. By using this emulated environment it is possible to make the system more open and user configurable compared to the original system. The SE-MCT test software offers additional features. For example the possibility to scroll back your data output on the terminal screen up to 10.000 lines makes it unnecessary to print out all your data logs, saving valuable time and money. Also, you can show a permanent graphical overview of your yield and binning for one or two test sites at the bottom of your Windows screen.
The SE-MCT runs on standard PC hardware, therefore it has access to all standard Windows NT devices such as 3.5" floppies, network, printers, CD-ROM, etc.
